"Put on the full

CRUSADERS

Dear Prospective Families:

As you review the many possibilities for your child's future education, I invite you to consider a
classical, Christian education with Covenant Christian Academy. Our purpose at CCA is to support
Christian families in preparing their children to reach their maximum academic potential, while also
equipping them to love the Lord, walk in His ways, and obey His commands, according to Scripture
(Deut. 30:15-16).

It is our desire that CCA become a source of hope for Christian families who desire the very best for
their children, both spiritually and academically. We strive to serve Jesus Christ daily through prayer,
godly character, and community service. In addition, we incorporate the classical method of education
that consists of formal training in the ancient disciplines of Latin, Logic, and Rhetoric.

Classical Christian schools have successfully developed across America. These schools are turning out
high achievers who are scoring well above average on national scholastic tests AND are learning of
God's plan for their lives. Within this framework, God has combined gifted teachers, enthusiastic
parents, and other resources to make this vision a reality for Effingham County. In addition, manageable
class sizes and orderly classrooms give students increased learning opportunities and allow for in-depth,
creative instruction.

At CCA, we seek to make God the center of education. Our desire is that Christ be present in every
aspect of our students' lives. The Bible tells us that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6).
Therefore, without Him, education is incomplete. We believe our students will be better able to serve
God, understand life and succeed in their personal future if they are equipped with a solid base of
knowledge and wisdom. In the centuries-old method of education known as the Trivium, we divide our
teaching into three major stages according to the way children naturally develop: the Grammar Stage, the
Logic Stage, and the Rhetoric Stage.

The Grammar Stage includes Kindergarten through 5th grade. Children in this stage are naturally inclined
to memorize. The grammar stage capitalizes on their desire to memorize, recite and chant. In this stage,
we teach children the "grammar" of each subject, or each subject's fundamental facts and rules.

In the Logic Stage, which includes grades 6 through 8, we capitalize on the student's love of challenging
others, arguing, and finding holes in communication. Logic is taught in this stage to enhance a student's
reasoning platform, to examine the construction of argument, and to strengthen debate and persuasion
with articulation and research. As the students develop their positions of debate, they draw on the facts
learned in the grammar stage.

The Rhetoric Stage includes the final years of high school, grades 9 -12. In this stage, students strive to
express themselves. We teach them how to communicate clearly in written and verbal forms, how to
conduct research in all subject areas, and how to see relationships among subjects. Students learn how
to communicate eloquently and persuasively, presenting the substance and applying the tools learned in
the grammar and logic stages.

The end result of the classically educated child is a young adult who knows what they believe and has
the tools to defend that belief. In addition, the classical model has trained them to learn on their own,
making the independence of college an asset instead of a liability. The love for learning and the desire to
improve and achieve daily become the distinguishing characteristics of the classical graduate.

We believe that God commands us as parents to intentionally provide a Christian education for our
children. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.
These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children.
Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when
you get up.” (Deut. 6:5-7)  We are here to serve parents in fulfilling this God-given responsibility. In
2007-2008, we will expand our program to offer grades Pre-K through 8th. Our goal is to add a grade
each year through 12th grade so that our students will have the opportunity to graduate from CCA.

Covenant Christian Academy is conveniently located in the heart of Effingham County on the campus of
